Welcome to The Manor at Morningside Acres

Coop Cam

This is where our gals spend their mornings and evenings. Each morning the hens will descend from their roosting rails to lay an egg in the egg boxes.

Right now since it’s just Grace and Frankie, and they prefer to share a nest, there’s only one egg box. However, once the other ladies move in we’ll install a three nest box for them.

After laying they’ll descend the stairs for breakfast and a day of socializing, scavenging and luxuriating in a dust bath.

At the end of each day and as the sun begins to set, the hens will find their way back upstairs to take a load off after a hard day of being a chicken.

The Nursery

These little ladies are brand new to the farm. We ordered them when they were one day old and had them delivered, believe it or not, by USPS!

For the first four weeks these little chicks have lived together in a small brooding box with a heat lamp to keep them warm.

Now they’re starting to lose their fluff in exchange for real feathers. These fast growing hens quickly outgrew their humble brooding box and now live in the downstairs apartment of the coop.

Here they’ll socialize with the other hens with a screen in between. Once they’re old enough we’ll remove the wall and let them move upstairs!
